New for this year is that you can find geeky bargains at nerdMarket and then continue to Artist Alley to browse creative products from game designers and artists.
And as if that weren’t enough, the gaming store area has grown this year. Here you’ll be able to find all imaginable goods within different genres, themes and formats!
Prepare yourself for the ultimate experience in the delights of the gaming world!
Artist Alley
Artist Alley is a recurring phenomenon at gaming events throughout the world. A place where visitors can meet artists – both amateur and professional – exhibiting their works for sale. Buy everything from prints and books to badges, key rings, stickers and jewellery. Motifs from both geek and popular culture are common, although there are also artists with more original pieces.
nerdMarket
nerdMarket has been a popular segment at many different events. Here you can find bargains in retro and board games through role-playing accessories to retro toys and Japanese treats. Every kind of geeky bargain you can imagine – whether brand-new or second-hand!
Store area
The expanded store area is home to all kinds of gaming companies and their pop-up stores. Here you’ll find everything from retro games and merchandise to collectible cards and the latest games.
And the kiosk is the place for drinks, snacks, sweets and lighter eats.
Cosplay
Get a real Pokémon hug, high-five Super Mario, haggle with a goblin or burst into song with Ariel. Cosplayers do everything imaginable!
Our guest Cosplayers, dressed as fantasy and gaming characters, will ensure that anything can happen when they mingle with the crowd at Malmö Game Week.
Nothing is impossible. Perhaps you’ll get a real Pokémon hug, high-five Super Mario, haggle with a goblin or burst into song with Ariel?
You’ll meet a number of independent guest Cosplayers – with Cosplay characters from every corner of popular culture milling around the convention. The word Cosplay was coined in Japan in 1984, although the tradition of dressing up at conventions has existed in the USA since 1939.
Trading card games (TCG)
Create your own deck to defeat your opponent’s Pokémon or wizard or to hack a database – unless of course you’re playing the evil conglomerate...
In trading card games, you can put together your own deck of collectible cards for playing everything from Magic the Gathering through Pokémon to Flesh and Blood.
In a trading card game (TCG), you duel against another player, using your custom deck to defeat everything from demons and monsters to vampires and zombies. There are also games for multiple players – either in teams or as a free-for-all.
Each player builds up resources that can be used to activate different creatures or effects, and these resources must be used wisely to knock as many creatures out of the game as possible.
Come by for help you with the details or simply to play to your heart’s content!

Board Games
Play new and classic board games. We’ve got games for everyone, from beginners to experienced players as well as for families and children.

Do Monopoly and Ludo come to mind when you think of board games? Welcome to a whole new world of possibilities!
Modern games often provide a good balance between strategy and luck, and there are all kinds of scenarios and themes. Everything from zombies and pandemics to birds and history. There are board games where you play both with and against other players, and the number of players can vary from one to many. Some games take just a few minutes while others can continue for days.
Board games are a tradition that stretches back a thousand years. Chess, Go, Draughts and Mancala are examples of board games that have been around for centuries.
Come and test the latest games, the oldest games and – most importantly – your new favourite game. See you there!

Role-playing games
Role-playing games
Get ready for an adventure in an imaginative type of gaming with interactive storytelling, regardless of whether zombies or royalty are your thing.
Get ready to face dragons, stormtroopers or zombies in an imaginative type of gaming based on shared storytelling. Regardless of whether you’re a veteran or simply keen to give role-playing a go, there’s something for you.
At the heart of role-playing games is the interaction between the players and the game master, with everyone contributing to the story and joint adventure – each in the role of a fictional character. The themes of these adventures vary greatly, from the classic fantasy of Dungeons & Dragons through the science fiction of Star Wars to the post-apocalyptic survival of Mutant: Year Zero.
The festival area will offer the opportunity to try a number of different role-playing games, create characters and immerse yourself in worlds brimming over with magic, monsters, heroes and villains – all under the direction of experienced game masters from the Malmö role-playing association Rollspelssällskapet.
Come and test the role-playing games Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars, Skjut Dom I Huvudet (Shoot Them in the Head), For The Queen and Dread – or why not a game from the Swedish role-playing game company Fria Ligan AB, such as Mutant: Year Zero or Forbidden Lands?
We look forward to meeting you and sharing our passion for adventures and storytelling!

Arcade
The arcade, where 80s vibes meet modern-day Tokyo, is packed with everything from dance games to Street Fighter. It’s enough to make anyone go bananas!
Welcome to our colourful arcade where time flies while you play on flashing machines and classic games. An area that takes you back to the 1980s – albeit with a contemporary Tokyo touch. Step into an area where the arcades of the 80s and 90s meet modern-day Japan. Here you’ll find everything from dance games to Street Fighter. It’s enough to make anyone go bananas – and don’t forget your sweatband!
Miniature wargaming
Let Captain Marvel floor the Hulk when you meet your opponent’s forces on a three-dimensional battlefield right on the tabletop instead of a gaming board.
Welcome to our new gaming area! Miniature wargames such as Warhammer and Marvel Crisis Protocol are often played directly on a tabletop adorned with various obstacles instead of a classic gaming board.
There are miniature wargames with all kinds of themes. Fantasy worlds, historic events or space battles – the choice is yours!
Common to all these games is that they are based on battles where you start by planning the conditions, such as which miniatures are going to be included. The game is set up like a landscape, with the terrain filled with obstacles matching the theme of the game, directly on the tabletop and using dice to determine the outcomes. The creativity and planning required before the game even starts are a large part of the enjoyment of this type of gaming.
Welcome to an exciting battlefield prepared by experienced miniature wargamers who will guide you in the rules of the game!
