Volunteer FAQ
What´s a volunteer?
As a volunteer, you’re part of the team behind MGW. You help out before and/or during the event on a nonprofit basis — and the tasks vary a lot! Whether you’re excited to welcome guests, sell snacks, or guide people around, there’s a role for you at MGW
Who´s in charge?
Malmö Game Week is organized by Spelens Hus in collaboration with the City of Malmö.
The project team oversees the event, while the volunteer coordinator is your main contact. Each area also has a designated lead on-site to support you.
What roles are available
There are many ways to help — and you can indicate your preferences when you apply!
Entrance Team
Be the first friendly face our guests meet! You’ll welcome visitors, check tickets, and help people find their way.
Cloakroom
Keep things tidy and take care of coats, bags, and precious finds — ideal for anyone who loves structure (and a bit of chit-chat).
Photo & Content
Love creating? Help us capture the magic of MGW! You’ll photograph cosplay, competitions, and unforgettable moments.
Department Support
Be an extra pair of hands where they’re needed most — maybe in the board game area, backstage with the cosplay team, or helping the stage program run smoothly.
Flex Team (General Support)
Perfect for those who like variety! You might count visitors, guide guests, or solve little challenges as they pop up.
How the application process works
After submitting your application, our volunteer coordinator will reach out to you by email with more information.
Heads up: Don’t forget to check your spam folder!
Rules & guidelines
You must be at least 14 years old to volunteer.
Some tasks (like handling payments) require you to be 18+.
Regardless of age, we expect you to:
Be on time
Treat others with respect
Wear your staff shirt during shifts
What do volunteers get?
Who can I talk to if I need help?
If that doesn’t work, or if you prefer, you’re always welcome to speak with someone from the project team or Spelens Hus directly.
Security staff will also be on-site to handle any visitors causing distress or unsafe situations.
