Volunteer FAQ

What´s a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you’re part of the team behind MGW. You help out before and/or during the event on a nonprofit basis, and the tasks vary a lot! Whether you’re excited to welcome guests, help visitors with various questions, or guide people around, there’s a role for you at MGW!

Malmö Game Week is organized by Spelens Hus in collaboration with the City of Malmö.

The project team oversees the event, while the volunteer coordinator is your main contact. Each area also has a designated lead on-site to support you.

There are many ways to help, and you can indicate your preferences when you apply!

  • Entrance Team

Be the first friendly face our guests meet! You’ll welcome visitors, check tickets, and help people find their way.

  • Department Support

Be an extra pair of hands where they’re needed most, maybe in the board game area, backstage with the cosplay team, or helping the stage program run smoothly.

  • Merch store
When visitors want to immortalize a memory of the event, they buy merch. Here you help them find exactly what they need among t-shirts, event bands, bottles, etc.
  • Photo & Content

Love creating? Help us capture the magic of MGW! You’ll photograph cosplay, competitions, and unforgettable moments.

  • Stages

The stage is a major cog in the wheel of the event. This is where the cosplayers show off their skills and the workshops share their knowledge. The stage also makes the event available digitally for all those who were unable to attend in person.

  • Crew lounge
The rooms where all volunteers and exhibitors can catch their breath and sit down in peace and quiet. Someone needs to make sure the room is clean and welcoming for all the tired souls who need a break.
  • Flex Team (General Support)

Perfect for those who like variety! You might count visitors, guide guests, or solve little challenges as they pop up.

Besides the joy of being part of Sweden’s nerdiest weekend, you’ll receive:
